Five things you should always keep a spare nearby when potty training a child

You keep a spare tire in your car so why aren't you keeping spares of essential items when potty training your child? Similar to how a spare tire is of no use to you if you keep your spare tire at home while on a road trip, you'll need to keep spares of these five items near by for easy access.

1. A spare roll of toilet paper

This is a must. We've all experienced the crappy feeling of running out of toilet paper when taking care of business in the bathroom. Always keep an extra roll nearby to prevent your little one from being stuck in the bathroom without toilet paper.

2. A spare pair of underwear

Like having a spare roll of toilet paper nearby, keeping an extra pair of underwear with you is always a great thing to have. In case of your kid takes care of number one and number two in his/her underwear, you'll be prepared to get him/her into a fresh set. And trust us, your kid will thank you.

3. A spare package of sanitizing wipes

Keeping sanitizing wipes will give you the chance to clean up quickly after misses or spills. This is a no-brainer.

4. A spare bottle of hand sanitizer

Having a spare bottle of hand sanitizer is a necessity. Chances are, you're handling some nasty stuff. After helping your child take care of business, thoroughly clean your hands with hand sanitizer. In fact, carry a small bottle with you when you travel.

5. A spare IllumiBowl

How can you not be prepared with an extra Shark Tank product? When your kid starts potty training, install an IllumiBowl on the toilet/potty your kid uses. It'll help with nighttime trips and will ensure that you don't have to give up your IllumiBowl.

As seen on ABC's Shark Tank, the IllumiBowl is a motion-activated toilet night light designed to make those late-night trips a whole lot easier.
