Four natural cleaning solutions for your toilet

Not everyone is a fan of using commercial toilet cleaners available at hardware stores or grocery stores. We've compiled a simple list of four natural ingredients you can find in your home or at your local grocery store for a reasonable price.

Here's our list of four natural cleaning solutions you can use to clean your precious, porcelain throne:

  • Lemon juice/citric acid: The natural acidity of lemon juice helps you break down the grime on your toilet bowl. If you can remember your high school chemistry class, acidic lemon juice is most effective when cleaning alkaline types of scum.
  • Baking soda: While it doesn't have the ability to fight germs, baking soda does a great job at helping you scrub and remove pungent odors. Its natural abrasiveness will help you eliminate the rings around your bowl.
  • White vinegar: A natural cleaner, white vinegar has proven to effective as a mold killer. White vinegar has its own smell, but its cleaning power won't go unnoticed. Chance are, you already have white vinegar somewhere in your kitchen so get to work!
  • Essential oils: 100 percent pure essential oils smell great and possess cleaning properties. Essential oils such as tea tree oil and lavender leave a pleasant aftermath while possibly reducing bacteria in your toilet.
